Tanzania Stroke Project

Tanzania Stroke Project

The Tanzania Stroke Project, led by Karol Budohoski, MD, assistant professor of neurosurgery, is an international, interdisciplinary team dedicated to bringing comprehensive stroke care to Tanzania and southeast Africa.

Dr. Budohoski’s team is focused on developing a locally driven, sustainable neuroendovascular interventional training program within Tanzania and the surrounding area. As a result, trainees will be equipped to provide safe, effective, evidence-based treatments that lead to exceptional care and improved outcomes for patients.

Stroke is the second-leading cause of death worldwide. Although more treatment options exist than ever before, there are currently no neuroendovascular interventionists in Tanzania who can provide life-saving stroke care.

With local and international support on the rise, there’s no better time to get involved. Your contribution will tangibly impact patients and providers in Tanzania and southeast Africa by making the best care options more accessible. Learn more about the Tanzania Stroke Project here.
