K. Gordon Lark Endowed Chair in Biological Sciences

The K. Gordon Lark Endowed Chair in Biological Sciences is awarded to an outstanding faculty researcher in the Department of Biology at the University of Utah. It also provides for a visiting lectureship, as well as undergraduate research opportunities within the department. Dr. Lark was the inaugural appointee to the chair and successfully recruited 27 exceptional faculty during his tenure, including Utah’s Nobel Laureate Mario Capecchi. A renowned geneticist himself, Dr. Lark made discoveries in DNA replication and genetics across various systems, from bacteria to soybeans to dogs.
