The Physics & Astronomy Observatory located at the University of Utah offers FREE public star parties on Wednesday nights. These are open to all ages, interests, and groups. Visitors may expect to see galaxies, nebulae, stars, moons, planets, and clusters. We also offer lectures, demos, and special events during the star parties and encourage questions. The observatory is often open during important astronomical events so be sure to watch for the next lunar/solar eclipse, Mercury transit, or bright comet.
Observatory staff can also offer assistance for those looking to learn to use telescopes for personal use, astrophotography, or for school/science fair projects. If you’re looking to purchase a telescope and need help with all the choices, or if you’re having trouble setting yours up, bring them to us and we may be able to help.

A Donor-Advised Fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or to creating a private foundation. This is accomplished by first establishing a DAF with an irrevocable donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. The donor then recommends the allocation of the donated assets to a qualified public charity (such as the University of Utah).

The University of Utah is unable to accept cryptocurrency at this time. If you are interested in making a gift using cryptocurrency, you may consider working with a Donor-Advised Fund.
