Ronald and Eileen Ragsdale Endowed Fund in Chemistry

In 2025, Eileen Ragsdale established the Ronald and Eileen Ragsdale Endowed Fund in Chemistry to honor the legacy of Professor Ronald O. Ragsdale in the Department of Chemistry.

Ronald O. Ragsdale (1932–2020) served the University of Utah for nearly five decades, inspiring generations through his devotion to teaching and chemical education. He taught tens of thousands of students, mentored teachers nationwide, and helped establish the US National Chemistry Olympiad and International Baccalaureate chemistry programs. As the founder of the Department’s annual Faraday Christmas Lectures, he brought science vividly to life in the Utah community.

This endowment ensures lasting support for future chemistry students and the department of Chemistry. Ronald and Eileen Ragsdale’s legacy endures in the lives they enriched through knowledge, mentorship, and service.
