Facilities Projects

The U completed four new facilities projects during FY 2015, benefitting students, faculty, and staff on campus, and serving health care needs in the broader community.

George S. Eccles Student Life Center

This student-led initiative, a decade in the making, was built mostly with private donations, in partnership with the students. Among its many amenities are three pools, cardio and weight training facilities, a four-story climbing wall, indoor running tracks, and basketball and racquetball courts. Chiefly for students, faculty and staff use is limited to those who purchase a membership.

Jon M. Huntsman Center Arena Upgrade and Remodel

As a longtime venue for a variety of events, from high profile guest speakers to athletic events and commencement ceremonies for the University and local high schools, the Huntsman Center renovation includes an upgraded sound system, improved lighting options, new features for sectioning off areas of arena, and a new floor.

University of Utah Mid-valley Health Center

University of Utah Health Care Dermatology and the John A. Moran Eye Center have opened a new satellite location in Murray, Utah, just north of Fashion Place Mall. The new center is an important community resource and houses existing programs for patient care and medical training, and includes space for additional growth.

Ray and Tye Noorda Oral Health Sciences Building

Sixty-two dental stations provide hands-on training space for students, monitored by faculty dentists, to work on patients. With the opening of the building, the dentistry school joins the professional schools of pharmacy, nursing, health, and medicine to complete the University’s offering of every aspect of a health sciences education.
