Charlotte England Endowed Scholarship Fund

Charlotte England Endowed Scholarship Fund

Charlotte England has held a lifetime passion for the Arts. Raised in Salt Lake City, UT, Charlotte began playing the violin as a child and performed from the time she was a teenager. At a young age, Charlotte learned the importance of invested teachers and mentors. When one dedicated teacher took an interest in a drawing she had done, it sparked a deep love and interest in continuing art. She never forgot the difference it made for a teacher to appreciate and encourage a student to follow their love for the arts.

For decades, she assisted in teaching students who are on study abroad programs to London from Brigham Young University, Utah Valley University, and the University of Utah where she would help lead museum tours for students. Later in life, when arthritis prohibited her violin playing, she took up piano lessons. Hosting countless gatherings in her home over 70 years, she created gathering places to enjoy music, art, and writing. This influenced not only her own children and grandchildren in their love of arts, but also had a ripple effect in the community. She has made her home a place to encourage discussion and creativity and shown others how they can continue this tradition.

Charlotte has supported, participated in, and encouraged all forms of arts education for decades, whether theater, music, or fine art.

In honor of her 90th birthday, we hope you will consider a gift in support of creating an endowed fund in her name.

Donations received will be used to fund an endowment named “The Charlotte England Endowed Scholarship Fund”, which will be managed by the College of Fine Arts. The endowment will support students in the Department of Theatre, Department of Art & Art History, and the School of Music, providing vital experiences such as lessons, travel, special projects, and more.

Your donation, no matter the amount, will honor this amazing woman and create new opportunities for the next generation of arts lovers.

The minimum amount needed to create an endowment is $25,000. In the event that we are unable to raise the required amount by the resolution of this campaign (within two years), the funds received will not be endowed and will instead be expendable. The expendable funds will be evenly distributed between the Department of Theatre, the Department of Art and Art History, and the School of Music to be used otherwise consistent with the purpose stated above.

Let's make a difference together
