Department of Communication

Department of Communication

The Department of Communication graduates approximately 600 undergraduate students each spring,
many of whom have received meaningful scholarships that have allowed them to focus on education
and complete their degrees without significant financial burden. Most of our world-class master’s and
doctoral students receive fellowship support that enables them to teach and mentor undergraduates
and engage in innovative research that advances communication scholarship on a global scale. Many of
our classrooms and facilities in the Languages and Communication Building are equipped with cutting-
edge technology that elevates our ability to instruct and engage students in ways that prepare them for
lucrative and fulfilling careers.

All of this and more is possible because of the generosity of donors. The Department of Communication
is supported by alumni, friends, and the local community through annual giving, planned gifts, and
grants and awards from corporations and foundations. We are sincerely grateful for the generosity of
our donors!

As the cost of tuition and housing increases, technology advances, and the needs of our student
population evolve, we hope to meet these needs through continued donor support. Our current funding
priorities include graduate student travel and fellowship support, as this is an ongoing need, and
donations immediately impact our department and students. We are also seeking support for first-
generation students and those from underserved populations, particularly through creating a
scholarship bridge program for students transferring from Salt Lake Community College.

When you give to the Department of Communication, you further the cause of higher education and
assure the University of Utah’s status of scholastic excellence. Your choice to support this institution—at
whatever level you choose—is truly appreciated. Every gift counts. Your gift allows the Department of
Communication to fund programs, scholarships, fellowships, and research.
We truly appreciate every contribution. Thank you for your support!
