The Financial Wellness Center (FWC) is dedicated to fostering a supportive environment that promotes belonging, education, social mobility, and long-term stability. Whether students are facing financial challenges or seek to enhance their financial skills, we’re here to support students every step of the way!
Our mission is to support student well-being and success by providing individualized financial counseling, education, programming, research, and advocacy to guide students in their lifelong financial wellness journeys.
Areas of Support
Financial Counseling
Students can connect one-on-one with an accredited financial counselor or peer educator and mentor for individualized support. Counseling sessions cover paying for school, budgeting, debt management, and more, helping students gain confidence about their finances and their future.
Tax Education and Filing
The center provides accessible tax education and free filing support to help students understand education credits, deductions, and annual filings. Each year, the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program serves hundreds of students and community members, providing essential tax support while creating meaningful learning opportunities that build real-world skills.
Financial Education
We provide workshops and interactive sessions designed to build lifelong money management skills through community-based learning. Covering topics such as budgeting, credit repair, investing, and financial decision making, we take a holistic approach that supports students’ financial health and overall well-being.
Our Impact
In the 2024–2025 academic year alone, the FWC hosted more than 8,560 community engagements, completed 700 counseling sessions, offered 120 workshops and outreach events, and helped file 724 tax returns.
