Dr. G. Lynn Powell, founding dean of the University of Utah School of Dentistry, is the visionary behind Utah’s first dental school. His decades-long leadership—from launching the Regional Dental Education Program in 1980 to opening the doors of the UUSOD in 2012—has transformed oral health education and access across the state. Alongside his wife, Linda H. Powell, Dr. Powell continues to shape the future of dentistry through advocacy, mentorship, and philanthropy.
To honor their legacy, the G. Lynn and Linda H. Powell Endowed Scholarship was established to help defray educational costs for students enrolled in the School of Dentistry. This fund supports aspiring dentists who will carry forward Dr. Powell’s mission: expanding access to care, serving the underserved, and advancing oral health for all.

A Donor-Advised Fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or to creating a private foundation. This is accomplished by first establishing a DAF with an irrevocable donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. The donor then recommends the allocation of the donated assets to a qualified public charity (such as the University of Utah).
