The George Richard Riser Endowed Scholarship for Field Research in the Department of Biology supports undergraduate and graduate student field work and research. The late George Riser, BS ’47, contributed to the success of thousands of biology majors at the University of Utah through this scholarship. His legacy is marked by science, generosity, and Utah’s pioneer history. In 2017, Riser received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the School of Biological Sciences. The donor then recommends the allocation of the donated assets to a qualified public charity (such as the University of Utah).
