International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) at the University of Utah supports more than 4,000 international students, scholars, and their families from over 100 countries. Our mission is to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and globally connected campus by providing immigration guidance, cultural programming, and opportunities for engagement that nurture both success and belonging.
ISSS serves as both a compliance and community hub. We help students maintain lawful immigration status while ensuring they feel at home in Salt Lake City. Our team provides visa advising, orientation programs, workshops, and advocacy to help international students thrive academically and personally. We also assist international faculty, researchers, and visiting scholars whose contributions enrich the university’s global reputation and advance discovery across disciplines.
Beyond compliance, ISSS plays a central role in campus internationalization through initiatives like the International Student Ambassador Program, Global Beverages Hour, and International Education Week. These efforts celebrate cultural diversity, connect domestic and international students, and promote cross-cultural understanding—values at the heart of higher education and global citizenship.
Donations directly enhance these programs by funding student emergency grants, scholarships, and community-building events that fall outside traditional university budgets. Contributions also expand leadership and mentorship opportunities, ensuring international students leave Utah not only with a degree but with a sense of purpose, belonging, and confidence in their role as global leaders.
