Native Student Scholarship

Native Student Scholarship

Native Americans remain among the most underrepresented groups in higher education. At the University of Utah, we are committed to increasing the number of Native students on our campus and providing the support they need to succeed. This work is only possible with your partnership.

For many Native students, the dream of higher education is challenged by significant financial barriers. Rising tuition and living costs make college increasingly out of reach. The Native Student Scholarship, made possible entirely through donor generosity, is a vital step toward making higher education more accessible for Utah’s Indigenous communities. Offered in partnership with the Center for Native Excellence and Tribal Engagement (NETE), this philanthropically funded scholarship helps eligible students from Utah’s eight federally recognized tribes cover tuition and fees not met by other scholarships or grants. Beyond financial support, the scholarship connects students with holistic, culturally centered resources designed to help them thrive academically, socially, and personally.

All scholarship recipients are also welcomed into the Native Excellence Scholars Program, a four-year cohort focused on academic success, leadership development, and cultural belonging through mentoring, cultural events, and a supportive home away from home.

Your contribution directly removes financial barriers and empowers Native students to succeed at the University of Utah and beyond. Together, we can honor our commitment to Utah’s Indigenous nations and ensure that every Native student has the opportunity to connect, flourish, and lead.
