The Tanner Dance Contemporary Companies are performing groups that train technically strong and versatile movers, engaging and confident performers, and inventive choreographers. The Contemporary Companies train students for expert level concert dance performance rather competitive conferences, remaining true to the mission of Tanner Dance to cultivate young people who contribute to their communities in compassionate and creative ways.
The curriculum focuses on contemporary technique, improvisation, and choreography in a variety of dance styles. The program is designed to be an elevated junior high and high school dance company experience with three levels: In Motion (beginning), Momentum (intermediate) and Tipping Point (advanced).
Gifts support all the Contemporary Companies activities such as weekly classes, international guest choreographers, costumes, and performance opportunities. A Donor-Advised Fund offers the opportunity to create an easy-to-establish, low cost, flexible vehicle for charitable giving as an alternative to direct giving or to creating a private foundation. This is accomplished by first establishing a DAF with an irrevocable donation to a public charity that sponsors a DAF program. The donor then recommends the allocation of the donated assets to a qualified public charity (such as the University of Utah).
