The Robert “Archie” Archuleta Memorial Scholarship Fund

Robert (Archie) Archuleta was a prominent civil rights activist in Utah. He was a grammar schoolteacher and principal in the Salt Lake City District for 34 years and served on many community boards and organizations. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Idaho State University and an education specialist degree from the University of Utah in 1982. Archie received numerous awards and accolades for his community service throughout his life. He posthumously received an honorary doctoral degree from the University of Utah, the highest honor given by the university, at the 2019 commencement ceremony.

The Robert (Archie) Archuleta Memorial Scholarship Fund awards scholarships to students who have demonstrated commitment and service to the Latinx community. Preference will be given to first-generation students who are civically engaged and demonstrate involvement in community activities that support and strengthen the Latinx community.
