TRAILS—U of U Health’s Global Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program

At TRAILS, we believe adventure should be for everyone. We build the tools—and the community—that make it possible.

TRAILS (Technology, Recreation, Access, Independence, Lifestyle, and Sports) is the global adaptive recreation program at University of Utah Health. Our mission is simple but bold: to make the outdoors—and the joy, freedom, and healing it brings—accessible to individuals with the most complex physical disabilities.

What sets TRAILS apart is our deep partnership with engineers and innovators across the University of Utah. Together, we invent what doesn’t yet exist: skis controlled by breath, boats guided by subtle movement, and equipment tailored to each person’s unique abilities. It’s all rooted in our vision: to help every participant “control everything with anything.”

Your gift supports every part of this mission, from programming and equipment to technology development and caregiver education. Together, we can open more trails—and more futures—for those who deserve every chance to thrive.
