Life Sciences Building

Life Sciences Building

Your support helps build the future of scientific discovery by creating a world-class home where students and faculty can learn, conduct research, collaborate, and innovate together.

“The Life Sciences Building is more than a facility, it is a declaration of the University of Utah’s commitment to scientific leadership.”

– Dean Pearl Sandick, College of Science

Gifts supporting the Life Sciences Building help transform the way science is taught and experienced at the University of Utah. Your investment creates modern classrooms, collaborative laboratories, and dedicated undergraduate research spaces where more than 1,000 students each year will gain the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience needed to become the next generation of scientists, educators, and innovators.

Expected to be completed in 2027, the Life Sciences Building will become the new academic and research home for the School of Biological Sciences and the College of Science. The facility will feature state-of-the-art classrooms, shared learning spaces, and specialized research environments while expanding the nationally recognized Science Research Initiative (SRI), giving more students the opportunity to participate in meaningful research early in their academic careers.

Located adjacent to Presidents Circle, the Life Sciences Building stands on one of the most historic sites on the University of Utah campus. Originally home to the School of Medicine, it housed the research laboratory that received the first research grant ever awarded by the National Institutes of Health. Today, this landmark location will once again become a place where innovation begins, connecting a legacy of scientific excellence with the future of discovery.

By supporting the Life Sciences Building, you are investing in the future of science at the University of Utah while creating opportunities for generations of students and researchers to make discoveries that will improve lives.

Donors have the opportunity to create a lasting legacy through room and space naming opportunities.
